Mission
The IDI Downtown Security Partnership enhances communication and coordination between IPD and Downtown security resources. Participants voluntarily take on additional patrolling responsibilities acting as additional eyes and ears of police outside their buildings. They are instantly linked to police and to each other by MECA (police) radios. Participants of this Downtown crime watch also meet regularly to address issues to assure a safe and secure Downtown.
Composition of the Partnership:
The partnership consists of 4 police agencies, including IPD, and 35 private and public organizations. A public-private partnership of 32 organizations, 186 buildings and approximately 500 security and police personnel who proactively address security issues, coordinate resources and act as additional "eyes and ears" for IPD. Partnership members are linked via police radio. Meets bi-monthly. More specifically, it includes:

MECA Radios
The partnership's IPD talk group utilizes 41 radios providing approximately 188 buildings and 450 security personnel with instant communication to each other and IPD. The Partnership, by using the radio system, has helped IPD make numerous arrests.
