Enjoy the Fourth of July weekend in Downtown… make it a staycation and check into one of Downtown's 30 hotels. Relax by the pool and then take full advantage of Downtown's attractions and events. Celebrate Independence Day… and have a blast! On July 4, enjoy FREE admission to the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, The Indiana State Museum’s FREE Canal Family Fest and the Indiana Historical Society’s FREE admission to the Indiana Experience and Concert on the Canal. Then see Indy's largest fireworks display, Freedom Blast, shooting from the top of the Region’s Bank Tower beginning at 9:47 p.m.! The show will be synchronized to music broadcast on radio station WFBQ 94.7 FM. This fantastic fireworks show is a local tradition and favorite activity. July 1- 5
Take the family out to the ballgame at Victory Field any night Thursday - Monday! Enjoy fireworks after the Friday, July 2 and Sunday, July 4 Indianapolis Indians games! For the July 4 game against the Louisville Bats, the first 10,000 fans through the gate will receive a hand held American Flag and the first 15,000 fans will receive a rally towel. July 2
The Honorable Judge Sarah Evans Barker will preside over the Naturalization Ceremony of approximately 100 new U.S. citizens on Friday, July 2 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held in a tent on the south lawn rain or shine. It’s IDADA’s First Friday! Stop by more than 20 galleries/studios July 2 from 6 - 9 p.m. and browse the latest creations by local artists.

July 3
Stop by the Indiana War Memorial July 3 for the Indiana National Guard Car-Bike-Truck Show. The car show will be July 3 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Activities include live music, food, military vehicle exhibitions and a military medic helicopter for participants to walk through. More than 200 cars register for the event.

July 4
Freedom Blast & July 4 Weekend Festivities
The Freedom Blast Fireworks show, shooting from the top of the Region’s Bank Tower, begins at 9:47 p.m.! The show will be synchronized to music broadcast on WFBQ 94.7 FM.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art. Celebrate the 4th of July with FREE admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. See Generations: The Helen Cox Kersting Collection of Shouthwestern Cultural Arts feturing nearly 800 Native American pieces. While you’re there be sure to check out the newly- opened R.B. Annis Western Family Experience in the Nina Mason Pulliam Education Center and climb aboard a true-to-life stagecoach. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., enjoy family-friendly games and crafts, music, artist demonstrations and more on the DeHaan Family Terrace. Also, dine on a BBQ buffet in the Sky City Café and watch the fireworks from the terrace.

Celebrate Independence in Indiana at the Indiana State Museum’s Canal Family Fest on the canal from 4:30 - 9 p.m. As a part of the city’s Independence Day celebration, visitors can enjoy fun, family-oriented activities before the Downtown fireworks. Festivities include educational activities, games and special participation by the Indianapolis Admirals Model Ship & Boat Club. Enjoy live music, brush up on your hula-hoop skills or watch master remote controlled ship and submarine captains navigate the Great Canal. Stop by the IMAX Theater to see Hubble 3D or The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D.

The Indiana Historical Society will offer FREE admission to the Indiana Experience from noon - 5 p.m. July 4. Additionally, attend a FREE Concert on the Canal. This Independence Day Bash will feature Tad Robinson and Indianapolis Municipal Band. Come out and celebrate with the sounds of freedom from 4:30 – 9:30 p.m. Reserved seating available: Tables for four are $35; $30 IHS members. Tables for eight are $45; $40 IHS members. Single seats at a community table are available for $8, $7 for members. Attendees may bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages to the concert. For 35 years, the President Benjamin Harrison Home has hosted its annual Ice Cream Social! Cold ice cream, patriotic enactors and live music make this the perfect, safe family celebration of the Fourth of July! From 11:30a.m. - 4 p.m., enjoy this cool treat along with popular outdoor activities from the 1800s on the spacious lawn including a Thomas Jefferson re-enactor, live music, Silly Safaris’ animals, juggler, magician, caricaturist, Indianapolis Fire Department fire fighters, croquet, a variety of Victorian games and historical treasure hunt for children. You can also tour the beautiful Victorian home. The day will culminate with a live reading of President Harrison’s nomination acceptance speech, originally delivered on July 4, 1888. Don’t miss the 9th Annual Rooftop 4th of July Celebration at the Fountain Square Theatre Building July 4. Guests can enjoy dinner from the shelBi street caFe & Bistro and a spectacular view of the Downtown fireworks from the Rooftop Garden. The celebration will be from 7 - 11 p.m. and includes Duckpin Bowling. This year's dinner menu features a salsa duo appetizer, choice of salad, choice of entree and a desert with mixed berries and whipped cream. Come to The Capital Grille for its Master Wine Tasting. This summer, taste 10 hand-selected wines for $25 dollars a person with a food purchase. Downtown Parking and Traveling Tips:
Everyone can find parking, arrive at their destination on time and enjoy all the excitement if a few simple tips are followed.

Prepare:

  • Plan your driving and walking route into and through Downtown ahead of time.
  • Use interstates to travel to and leave Downtown.
  • Enter Downtown from the side on which you plan to park.
  • Allow plenty of extra travel time to Downtown.
  • Be aware that travel through Downtown will be limited to streets away from the core area.
  • Relax during peak exit times.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, park once and enjoy the walk.
  • Carpool or use IndyGo if possible.

Park:

  • Downtown parking is abundant. There are more than 72,000 parking spaces Downtown.
  • Log onto www.indydt.com for Downtown maps with attraction and parking information. Print out the map and bring it with you.
  • Select a couple of parking alternatives before you leave home.
  • Plan to use a garage or lot. Most meters near event sites are restricted during this time; Meters are free on weekends.
  • Some parking facilities and lots may not be open to the public.
