Marketing and Communications Internship

Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. offers an internship in the marketing
and communications department. The candidate should have
strong organizational skills, be able to work independently with limited direction, be creative and have strong writing skills. Candidates should be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook. Applicants with majors in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing and advertising are preferred. A final start date will be determined once a candidate has been selected.

Internship Description

• Help develop and implement the annual IDI Marketing and Communications Plan.
• Help generate media coverage of Downtown Indianapolis,
  IDI and its programs by developing story ideas, drafting
  news releases and media advisories and organizing news events and press conferences, as needed.
• Assist with the Monumental Weekend media relations campaign and news releases and pitch to the local print and broadcast media.
• Maintain and update current media kit materials including fact sheets and backgrounders about Downtown history, attractions, events, and IDI programs and initiatives.
• Assist with compiling and distributing citywide calendar of events and other printed materials.
• Maintain media database for various media categories and assist with research and tracking as needed.
• Update venue files.
• Other duties as assigned.

Compensation
Interns will receive a monthly stipend along with a parking allowance.
