- Browse Indianapolis City Market; visit the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays starting in May, running throughout the summer.
- Jog around White River State Park and throughout Downtown.
- Take a walk along the 1.5 mile long canal.
- Let the scenery surround you! Enjoy your lunch on Monument Circle, the heart of the city.
- Visit the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum in the basement of the Monument.
- Wander through one of Indy's six cultural districts, four of which are right Downtown! (Canal and White River State Park, Indiana Avenue, Mass Ave and Wholesale District)
- Visit Easley Winery for free wine education and tasting.
- Meander through the beautiful outdoor gardens at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
- Sit at the fountain at Pan Am Plaza.
- Browse Circle Centre mall.
- Go to the top of the Soldiers & Sailors Monument (minimal fee).
- Catch a glimpse of the city from the City-County Building.
- Learn about and visit all of the city's memorials. Check out the Indiana War Memorial Museum.
- Pack a picnic and head to the Lawn at White River State Park. While you're there check out the many sculptures that adorn the area.
- Visit the interim Central Library and read a book.
- Check out the numerous concerts and performances in the Artsgarden (various days & times).
- Listen to an organ concert at Christ Church Cathedral on Fridays at noon.
- Visit the National Art Museum of Sport in the University Place Conference Center on the IUPUI campus.
- Ride bikes through historic neighborhoods, like Old Northside or Lockerbie Square.
- Play Frisbee in one of many Downtown parks, including Military Park and University Park.
- Visit the Indiana Historical Society and check out the jukebox.
- Watch the Cole Porter Room Film Series at the Indiana Historical Society Thursdays at noon.
- Check out the Athenaeum Building, built in 1894. It houses the city's oldest restaurant still in operation today, The Rathskeller.
- Visit Circle Centre and take a Historic Facades Walking Tour (minimal fee, appointments needed).
- Enjoy Concerts on the Canal at the Indiana Historical Society Thursdays through August from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- Play basketball on the IUPUI courts.
- Just about everywhere you look Downtown you will find public art embellishing the city.
- Be a spectator. Many Downtown events are free and entertaining to watch.
