  • There are more than 200 restaurants and 200 shops to choose from Downtown, including the $319.5 million Circle Centre, one of the country’s most successful urban shopping and entertainment centers, anchored by Nordstrom and Parisian.
  • Downtown features four emerging, unique Cultural Districts: The Canal & White River State Park (discovery runs through it,) Indiana Avenue (rhythm. reborn.) Mass Ave (45 degrees from ordinary) and Wholesale District(welcome to the main event).   • Indianapolis is the Crossroads of America and easily accessible by car and air. Indianapolis’ central location to the nation’s top 100 markets puts more than half the nation’s population within a day’s drive. Indianapolis International Airport, less than 15 minutes from Downtown, is served by 18 major airlines.
  • Downtown features 5,400 hotel rooms; including 3,000 rooms in seven hotels connected via skywalk to the Indiana Convention Center & RCA Dome plus Circle Centre.

Corporations Commit to Downtown

  • Simon Property Group, a Fortune 1000 company, is building a $55 million headquarters Downtown to be completed in late 2006.
  • The Conrad Hotel, the third of its kind in the U.S., will be built in the heart of Downtown, complete with 243 rooms, by the end of 2006. Sixteen luxurious condos will also be available on the top floors.
  • Anthem, Inc.’s, now WellPoint, initial public offering (IPO) was the most successful health care IPO ever.

BioCrossroads - Central Indiana Life Sciences

  • More than 33 projects worth $875 million have been completed since 1995.
  • Thirteen additional projects worth $1 billion are currently in the pipeline.
  • A majority comes from Eli Lilly and Company, one of the nation’s leading pharmaceutical companies, investing $953 million worth of new projects and expansions through 2007.
  • Indiana has the second highest concentration of biopharmaceutical jobs in the nation. Indiana also ranked 10th in the nation for projected biopharmaceutical job increases from 2004-2014 according to the Milken Institute Study – Biopharmaceutical Industry Contributions to State & U.S. Economies.

Residential Opportunities Continue to Grow

  • Downtown living has seen record demand and occupancy. This has led to more than 1,440 new residential units, totaling more than $340 million, currently in the pipeline.
  • The biggest residential development for Downtown in years is the Market Square District redevelopment. At least 400 condos in two 29-story buildings and 100,000 square feet of retail space are to be completed by 2007.
