Community Development Corporations
Community Development Corporations (CDCs) are catalysts for community-led neighborhood rebirth through housing revitalization, economic
development, and partnerships with crucial self-sufficiency programs. CDCs maximize public funds through alliances with financial institutions, equity investors and
individual donors.
Committed to helping neighborhoods direct their own economic destiny, CDCs believe long-term revitalization of urban neighborhoods is most successful when it is
resident driven.
A CDC has a defined program or service area (usually one to three neighborhoods) and is controlled by a neighborhood-based Board of Directors - with a majority of those Directors
being persons who either live, work, or worship within the program or service area. (Source: Indianapolis Coalition for Neighborhood Development)
