Program Overview
The Downtown Indianapolis Outdoor Banner Program is intended to provide pride in the community, beautify Downtown, promote community activities and promote programs important to the city's image, economic interest and organizations serving the community.

The program encompasses more than 250 poles throughout Downtown Indianapolis which can be used in minimum postings of 25 poles or a maximum of more than 200 poles collectively to create a unified and dynamic program. In addition, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. coordinates and schedules banner placement at Indianapolis International Airport. All programs are administered by Indianapolis Downtown Marketing, Inc. (IDMI). Two Types of Banner Poles
  • Monument Circle/Market Street: The program consists of 15 banner poles (2 banners per pole) located on Monument Circle and Market Street from Capitol Street to Alabama Street.
  • Downtown Light Poles: The program consists of more than 250 light poles (2 banners per pole) located throughout the Downtown area.
  • Indianapolis International Airport: The program consists of 10 banner poles (2 banners per pole) located on the entry and exit drive from the main terminal.
How the Banner Program Works
  • Banner programs are managed, scheduled and implemented by IDMI.
  • Individuals or organizations apply for use of a program by completing Exhibit "B", Banner Use Application.
  • Banner Use Applications are to be completed and submitted with final artwork and production specifications to IDMI for review and approval by IDMI. If the Banner Use Application is approved, the program will be scheduled based upon banner space availability. IDMI will notify banner applicant of approval or decline within 30 days of receipt of Banner Use Application.
  • If the Banner Use Application is approved, a Banner Use Agreement, Exhibit "C" will be issued with along with an invoice for initial fee payment. The initial fee payment is required in order to reserve the space. Approved banner application deposits are non-refundable in the event the applicant cancels the banner request.
  • Banner approval is based upon adherence to guidelines established for each banner program in accordance with requirements established by City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW), Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD), Sign Regulations of Marion County and Indianapolis Power and Light Company (IPL).
