Marge Tarplee Downtown Beautification Fund

In 2001, a new Downtown Beautification Fund, named after long-time Downtown beautification advocate, visionary and benefactor Marjorie C. Tarplee, was created. The Marge Tarplee Downtown Beautification Fund (MTDBF) was designed to provide an income stream to help supplement the annual costs of Indianapolis Downtown Inc.'s (IDI) beautification programs.

Each Friend and Supporter has been a part of offsetting the growing needs of a growing Downtown by helping fund such initiatives as:

  • Seasonally planting and maintaining 206 planters and 17 gateway gardens
  • Coordinating cleaning and beautification efforts of hundreds of Downtown businesses and property owners
  • Lighting 180 street trees with white lights
  • Implementing regular cleaning and anti-litter programs
  • Recruiting, coordinating and recognizing our many volunteers and partners

The seed for this fund was officially planted with a generous grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
