Winter is officially here, and Downtown is the place to stay entertained and warm. Day or night, all are guaranteed a good time as Downtown has something for everyone.

New year = great performances
The Indiana Repertory Theatre will present Doubt Jan. 16 - Feb. 6 and The Power of One Feb. 2 - March 8. Theatre on the Square will present Say you love Satan Jan.11 - Feb. 2 and Bang Feb. 22 - March 15. Also, The Phoenix Theatre will show End Days Jan. 3 - Feb. 3. Conseco Fieldhouse will host a special treat on Jan. 18 when cast members from the popular television show Dancing with the Stars entertain dance-lovers. From Beethoven to Hamlisch to Tchaikovsky, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents a wide variety of performances to please any audience.

Catch some sports action
When it's cold outside, it's good to be inside watching a heated game between the Indiana Pacers and several visiting teams. Hockey season is in full swing! The Indiana Ice play the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders at Conseco Fieldhouse on Feb. 23. Car fanatics will be excited about the U.S. Hot Rod Monster Jam Jan. 26 in the RCA Dome. High School sports are also picking up. Cheerleaders face-off for the JAMfest Nationals Championships Jan. 18- 20 at the Indiana Convention Center & RCA Dome. This year's IHSAA State Wrestling Finals are Feb. 15 & 16 at Conseco Fieldhouse. Also, the IHSAA Girls State (Feb. 8 & 9) and Boys State (Feb. 22 & 23) Swimming Finals will take place at the Indiana University Natatorium.

February is Black History Month
Several events take place Downtown during the month of February to celebrate. Check out the Black History Month Celebration at The Children's Museum or enjoy FREE Art & Soul concerts at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. The Indiana Historical Society invites Ball State University historian Nina Mjagkij to discuss the battlefront and home front experiences of African-Americans during World War I on Feb. 6. Also, IHS will present their Sharing the Dream exhibit through the end of March. Enjoy a free Celebration of Black History Concert Feb. 5 by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Celebrate African-American culture by taking a stroll down Indiana Avenue and touring the Madame Walker Theatre Center. Join national recording artist Napoleon Williams for an evening of gospel music and dance during the annual sing off "Singsation" on Feb. 25 at the Walker Theatre. Head to the Indiana State Museum for Legacy Theater: The Indiana African-American Experience, for a look at Indiana's African-American history.

Make Valentine's Day & February plans
Make reservations at one of more than 250 restaurants Downtown. Many restaurants will offer a special Valentine-themed dinner. After dinner, take a ride Downtown in a horse-drawn carriage. Look for special Valentine's Day rates at numerous Downtown hotels. Take time to recognize our forefathers on President's Day, Feb. 18.
