Monument Circle sparkles
Seventy-four trees on Monument Circle and the north spoke will sparkle even brighter this year as the old light strands are replaced with 740 brand new strands April 7 -18. That means Monument Circle will be shining 74,000 twinkle lights strong. Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. (IDI) has partnered with Barth Electric, ERMCO, Long Electric and Miller-Eads Company (all Quality Connection contractors) to get the job done. This street tree lighting project is just one example of many successful public/private partnerships initiated by IDI. Each electrical contractor donates their labor and equipment to replace the tree lights on one quadrant of Monument Circle. The lights are purchased by IDI and the city maintains the lights throughout the year. Beautification efforts are vital in maintaining the look and feel of a thriving and inviting Downtown. Through this partnership, these efforts are able to reinforce the image of a revitalized Downtown. For more information, call IDI at 237.2222.
